The Moment Everything Clicked Into Place

The real story behind Home & Organise, by Dilly Khay — Certified KonMari Consultant & Founder

my story

For over a decade, I worked inside London’s homes — and I mean really inside them. As a professional housekeeper, I was trusted into the most private corners of people’s lives: their wardrobes, their kitchens, their children’s bedrooms, their studies. I saw how Londoners actually lived behind closed doors. And I noticed something that nobody was talking about.

Even the most beautiful homes felt heavy. Wardrobes bursting with clothes their owners hadn’t touched in years. Kitchen cupboards jammed with things bought in hope but never used. Surfaces buried under layers of stuff accumulated quietly, one item at a time. The homes looked fine from the outside. But the people inside them felt exhausted, overwhelmed — often without even knowing why.

And I felt it too. I would clean, tidy, reset — and the next week it would all creep back. I thought the answer must be better systems, smarter storage, more containers. So I tried. I bought organising boxes. I labelled everything. I rearranged. And yet something still felt off — like I was treating symptoms rather than the cause.

"The question is not how to organise your things, but why you have them and whether they bring you joy."

Then everything changed at a wellbeing and lifestyle exhibition I attended in London. I had gone out of curiosity — drawn in by stands on natural living, mindful interiors, conscious consumption. And there, quietly amid all the noise, was a talk about the KonMari method. Something made me stop. Marie Kondo’s words landed somewhere I hadn’t expected. She wasn’t talking about tidying. She was talking about energy. About how every single thing we own either lifts us or quietly drains us. I stood there and felt a decade of frustration finally make sense.

"Tidying is not the destination. It is the beginning of a new journey — your home should give you energy, not take it away."

I went home and started with my own wardrobe — holding each item and asking honestly: does this spark joy? My mornings felt lighter almost immediately. Getting dressed became a small pleasure instead of a daily battle. I began to understand what I had been sensing for years but couldn’t name: our homes are not just physical spaces. They are energetic ones. Clutter holds old stories, old stress, old versions of who we were.

"Keep only the things that speak to your heart. Then take the plunge and discard all the rest."

I am passionate about wellbeing — about mindful living, eco-conscious choices, and the kind of intentional life that genuinely nourishes you. And I came to see that true home organisation is a form of self-care. When your home reflects who you truly are — not who you were, not who you think you should be — something shifts. Your mind clears. Your energy rises. You breathe differently inside your own four walls.

"Keep only the things that speak to your heart. Then take the plunge and discard all the rest."

I pursued my KonMari certification with everything I had — training to bring this approach to London homes with the care, depth and intention it deserves. Today, every home I walk into feels like a privilege. Whether it’s a wardrobe that hasn’t breathed in years, a kitchen where mornings feel like a battle, or a whole home that needs a reset — I bring the same thing every time: genuine calm, deep listening, and a process that starts with you. Your life, your routines, your joy.
